Fun & Volunteer

Puppy Raiser

I have been an active member of Guide Dogs for the Blind, an organization based out of CA, since 2010. I am a volunteer puppy raiser. Typically, I receive a dog at 8 weeks of age and raise them until they are 12-15 months old, at which point they return to the CA campus for formal training. During the raising period my main objectives are to train and socialize the puppy. I have helped raise 3 dogs since 2010, Mona, Alexi, and Trace.

Ski Patroller

I was a volunteer ski patroller for Copper Mountain Resort for two season (2011-2012 and 2012-2013). As a certified emergency medical technician (EMT), I responded to medical/trauma calls all over the mountain, performed patients assessments and care, packaged patients into rescue toboggans, and transported them safely to the clinic at the base of the mountain. Other duties included trail closures/openings, trail maintenance and skiing powder.

Rafting

During my summers in college I worked as a raft guide on the Arkansas River, where I developed a passion for whitewater rafting. In graduate school I bought a raft, and since then I raft every chance I get. My favorite trips include browns canyon, the numbers, the royal gorge, westwater canyon, cataract canyon, and the grand canyon.
